These are the best first steps if FinderKeeper is not behaving as expected.
Finder is not reopening where you left it
Make sure FinderKeeper is running and not paused. Open a normal Finder folder for a moment so FinderKeeper can record the last real location.
The panel says no ordinary Finder folder is active
You are probably viewing Recents or another special Finder view. This is expected. FinderKeeper only treats real filesystem folders as remembered locations.
Window position or monitor placement seems wrong
Move and resize the Finder window where you want it, leave it there briefly, then close all Finder windows and reopen Finder. FinderKeeper stores geometry globally.
Folder view settings are not being remembered
Confirm FinderKeeper is active, then leave the folder open briefly after changing its view, sorting, path bar, or other supported settings.
Launch at Login is not working
Turn on Launch at Login in FinderKeeper. If macOS asks for approval, check System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions.
Finder behaves normally again
FinderKeeper may be paused, quit, or not running. That is intentional: without FinderKeeper active, macOS Finder returns to its normal native behavior.
